If You Had a Car Accident
First Things You Need to Do

If accident is minor, move cars to a safe place, out of traffic.

Turn on your vehicle's hazard lights and use cones, warning triangles or flares for safety.

Call the police (911), even if the accident is minor.

Make immediate notes about the accident, including name, number, license plate, insurance information of all involved and take a photo of the damage and part of the road where the accident took place.

Do not sign any document unless it's for the police or your insurance agent.

Notify your insurance company immediately to start the claim process.
